Dabangg 2 Movie Review

Written By Manish Garg on Friday, 28 December 2012 | 15:24

AVERAGE RATINGS OF 10 REVIEWS - 2.78/5
Star Cast: Salman Khan, Sonakshi Sinha

Dabangg 2 Review By:
Srijana Mitra Das - Times Of India - Ratings 3.5/5

Arbaaz Khan's direction is commendable - he maximises his main star, maintains balance and keeps the movie tight. There are some loose strands - an SP eating 'pisa' becomes annoyingly heavy, Sonakshi's acting stays lean, some jokes are saccharine-like - but at the end, Salman's shirt comes off, so it's all cool. Taking this franchise forward, Dabangg 2 presents a sewaiyyan Western where hot-cop Chulbul is cowboy and stud. If you're up for fun that's purely tongue-in-cheek, this will give you bangs for your buck.

Note: If you don't like Salman Khan, Dabanng 2 won't pack a punch for you.
Dabangg 2 Review By:
Rajeev Masand - IBN - Ratings 2.5/5
I’m going with a generous two-and-a-half out of five for Arbaaz Khan’s Dabangg 2. What this film needed was personality and character; what it’s left with is sameness. But that’s probably enough for Salman Khan fans.
Dabangg 2 Review By:
Taran Adarsh - Bollywood Hungama - Ratings 4/5

On the whole, DABANGG 2 has Salman Khan, Salman Khan and Salman Khan + Entertainment, Entertainment and Entertainment in large doses. The film has the masala to work big time with the masses. This one will rewrite the rules of the game and the festive occasion [Christmas and New Year] will aid its potential. Sure shot Blockbuster!
Dabangg 2 Review By:
Komal Nahta - ETC

On the whole, Dabangg 2 is, without doubt, a blockbuster. It may be routine and may have its flaws but, overall, it entertains wonderfully. Most importantly, it has more than enough masala for the millions of Salman Khan fans. Salman Khan carries the entire film on his shoulders.
Dabangg 2 Review By:
Mayank Shekhar - Dailybhaskar.com  - Ratings 2/5

As prophecied, if the world did come to an end on the day of the film’s release (December 21, 2012), you’d feel like a moron spending the last day on planet earth filling your mind and lowering your IQ with rubbish like this. Otherwise, you’d feel just fine, surrounded by Sallu’s bhakts who were probably in the theatre knowing that their super-hero in fact would save the world for them. He does. And yeah, like any other faith, this kind of idol worship is really hard to explain.
Dabangg 2 Review By:
NDTV - Ratings 2.5/5

Dabangg 2 is every inch of the way the critic-proof film that it is meant to be. No matter how many holes you might spot in its uncomplicated, wafer-thin narrative edifice, Bollywood’s most bankable megastar's onscreen deeds, at a bit of a stretch, would serve to paper over all of them.
Dabangg 2 Review By:
Raja Sen - Rediff - Ratings 2.5/5
Raja Sen feels that Dabangg 2 is less unwatchable.

Dabangg 2 Review By:
Anupama Chopra- Hindustan Times - Ratings 2.5/5

My review of Dabangg ended with a plea for a better story for Chulbul. Like so much else in Dabangg 2, that too remains the same. Can someone please write a terrific plot for this terrific character?
Dabangg 2 Review By:
VINAYAK CHAKRAVORTY- India Today - Ratings 3/5

If Dabangg 2 was always about Salman Khan revelling in top form, the superstar doesn't disappoint. He makes Chulbul Pandey even more lovable this time- cool shades, wry humour, crackling stunts and smooth chemistry with the pretty Sonakshi, all very much in place. Did you seriously need any more reasons to watch?
Dabangg 2 Review By:
oneindia.com - Ratings 2.5/5

Dabangg 2 is not meant to make sense! It's only meant to entertain. If you are a Chulbul Pandey fan, go and enjoy your annual dose of Salman Khan, else give it BIG ignore. Dabangg 2 will be loved by the masses, but not the classes. Though the movie has nothing extraordinary to provide, people might relish it if they only keep their brains away while watching the movie!

Housefull 2 Review By:
Taran Adarsh - Bollywood Hungama - Ratings 3.5/5
HOUSEFULL 2 is a madcap entertainer that gets the viewer giggling, yelling, whistling and applauding in his seat and you completely savor the fact that the spectators parked around you too are utterly engaged in the chaos and seeking maximum pleasure from the on-screen happenings. If you are a moviegoer who derives pleasure from loud comedies with over-the-top humor that defy logic at every opportunity, I am sure, you will relish this wacky slapstick. If your idea of watching a comedy is to have a good time at the movies, then HOUSEFULL 2 is especially designed for you.
Housefull 2 Review By:
OneIndia.in
Housefull 2 is a must to watch for the comedy lovers. If you need a break from work and want to get relaxed, here's a wacky slapstick of your taste, that would definitely leave you yelling, whistling, giggling and applauding in the theatres. In one word, the movie is a laughter-riot, but somehow lacks a good script.
Housefull 2 Review By:
Mrigank Dhaniwala -Koimoi - Ratings 3/5
What’s Good: The entertaining screenplay; a majority of the comedy dialogues; Akshay Kumar’s performance.
What’s Bad: A few gags that don’t work; a few boring portions in the pre-interval portion.
Verdict: Housefull 2 entertains. It will do good business at the box-office.
Loo break: A couple during the songs.
Watch or Not?: Certainly watch it as it is a madcap, albeit mindless, comedy.
Housefull 2 Review By:

Plus Points - Actors, Dialogues, Anarkali
Minus Points - Senseless
Final Word -  Keep your brains home and enjoy the laughter ride.
Housefull 2 Review By:
Raja Sen - Rediff - Ratings 1/5
Housefull 2 is shamefully bad. So bad that Ranjeet - the rapey villain of yore - who appears in one scene, is the most dignified thing about the film.
Housefull 2 Review By:
Nikhil Kumar - Apun Ka Choice - Ratings 2.5/5
Peg your expectations low and don’t hope for clever humour from Housefull 2 and chances are you will find this film a jolly good entertainer.
Housefull 2 Review By:
Kanika Sikka - DNA  - Ratings 2/5
In the end, one does agree there is a genre called madcap comedy and intelligence has nothing to do with it. Yet again, you cannot question the sensibility of the cine-goers today and all one demands from movies today is reasonable humour.
Go in with a promise that you’ll be entertained, but don’t expect an exhilarating journey.
Housefull 2 Review By:
Zee News - Ratings 3/5
Known for his exceptional command over comedy, witty filmmaker Sajid Khan has succeeded in pulling of a hilarious multi-starrer flick ‘Housefull 2’.‘Housefull 2’ takes you on a roller coaster ride that will leave you laughing your heart out.
Though the film has certain glitches, one can easily overlook them, for the film certainly promises a great deal of laughter that will leave you pleading for a break. Your jaws will be tired laughing and so will your tummy that might suffer cramps! The first half keeps you busy as you will stop munching your bucket of pop-corn. However, the second half is a bit of a drag that has some clichéd dialogue and contriving situations that might leave you wondering about their inclusion in the film.

Agent Vinod Movie Review

Written By Manish Garg on Friday, 23 March 2012 | 09:24

AVERAGE RATINGS OF 2 REVIEWS - 2.5/5
Star Cast: Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor

Agent Vinod Review By:
Kunal Guha- Yahoo Movies - Ratings 1/5

When the lead cast of the film fails you, it’s like the tail-enders are put to task. But with Saif and Kareena both believing that expressions are injurious to health, there was little that the supporting cast could do to save the day. The VFX of the film is being widely discussed and even appreciated by those who form opinions based on promos. But the climax features Saif piloting a chopper that nails aerial somersaults to celebrate the bomb's diffusion. The point being, this chopper looks like a remote controlled toy being maneuvered by an inebriated person.
We hear that Saif is already planning a sequel. Perhaps he could call it ‘LIC Agent Vinod: The return of the killer policies’.

Agent Vinod Review By:
Taran Adarsh - Bollywood Hungama - Ratings 4/5
AGENT VINOD is a hi-octane espionage thriller with a heart. It is not just brawny and dynamic, but witty and crazy too. Ultra slick and stylish, this desi Bond movie adheres to the formula and succeeds in meeting the humungous expectations. AGENT VINOD has all the potential to develop into a triumphant franchise!

Paan Singh Tomar Movie Review

Written By Manish Garg on Friday, 2 March 2012 | 20:52

AVERAGE RATINGS OF 9 REVIEWS - 3.33/5
Star CastIrrfan Khan, Mahie Gill, Zakir Hussain, Vipin Sharma.

Paan Singh Tomar Review By:
Taran Adarsh - Bollywood Hungama - Ratings 3.5/5
PAAN SINGH TOMAR shatters the standard rules of this genre. Besides, the film makes you cognizant that serious cinema can be uniformly delightful, like any other enthralling entertainer. If this variety of cinema allures you then chances are that you will take pleasure in watching PAAN SINGH TOMAR. Recommended!
Paan Singh Tomar Review By:
Dailybhaskar.com  - Ratings 4/5
3 Ups and 3 DownsA performance par excellence by Irrfan Khan, stupendous direction, impressive dialogues, and a powerful screenplay makes Paan Singh Tomar a flawless venture. Sluggish editing, however leaves the film slightly lengthy which though can easily be ignored.
On the whole, Paan Singh Tomar breaks rules and cries out loud that meaningful cinema can be equally entertaining like any rib-tickling masala film. Highly recommended!
Paan Singh Tomar Review By:
OneIndia.in - Ratings 3.5/5

Paan Singh Tomar would not have worked out if not for the outstanding performance of Irrfan Khan. It is obvious that Irrfan has trained himself to justify the role that he did. Irrfan is 'perfect' in every way and not once does he falter in his portrayal of the character.
Mahie Gill is brilliant and has given a wonderful performance, and so has Vipin Sharma and Rajendra Gupta. All other actors have delivered a good performance.
Overall, Paan Singh Tomar is a must watch movie!
Paan Singh Tomar Review By:
Komal Nahta -Koimoi/ETC - Ratings 1/5

What’s Good: The first half; the performances.
What’s Bad: The second half which is a routine revenge drama; the difficulty which the lay viewer will face while trying to understand the Bundelkhandi dialect in which the dialogues are spoken.
Verdict: Paan Singh Tomar does not make too much of a mark, thanks to the dull second half.
Loo break: A couple after interval.
Watch or Not?: Watch it for Irrfan Khan’s performance and also for the other actors.
Paan Singh Tomar Review By:
Martin D'Souza - Glamsham - Ratings 4/5

Paan Singh Tomar celebrates sports. It also highlights the apparent jungle we all are living in. Just imagine what his life would have been had his complaint been registered in the police station and was he given the respect due to him.
Dacoits are made, not born.
Paan Singh Tomar Review By:
Kunal Guha - Yahoo Movies Ratings 3/5

Gangsters, con artists and stock market scammers have always been glamourised in films to be acceptable and commendable. But Paan Singh begs to differ and his raw exuberance is what makes him endearing and a joy to watch. And the best part of the film is, despite the premise, it doesn’t force any rapes or unwarranted abusives to beef up the plot. And that ensures Irrfan’s interpretation of the homely homicidal doesn’t become a Paan Singh too much.
Paan Singh Tomar Review By:
Aseem Chhabra - Rediff - Ratings 3.5/5

Dhulia has one more agenda in making PST. He reminds us -- as the statement at the end of the film makes it amply clear -- that India has a sad track record when it comes to the treatment of its former athletes and who were real national heroes.
That statement carries a lot of significance in current times when some sports in India, especially cricket, have become a big business. Millions of dollars are spent buying, promoting Indian Premier League  players and teams. Players like Sachin Tendulkar , an Indian hero alright, are certainly well taken care of through all his endorsement deals. But not too long ago, and perhaps even now, many of India's well-known athletes lived in abject poverty, forgotten by the nation, once their sports careers were over.
PST reminds us never to forget that shame of India.
Paan Singh Tomar Review By:
Blessy Chettiar - DNA  - Ratings 4/5

Gritty and power packed Paan Singh Tomar is a tribute to the unsung heroes of sports in India. Dhulia’s direction and Irrfan’s integrity will make Paan Singh Tomar among the best movies of recent times.
Paan Singh Tomar Review By:
Avijit Ghosh - Times Of India - Ratings:3.5/5
It is perhaps a sign of Bollywood maturing that another biopic on a famous athlete is in the making: Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, on sprinter Milkha Singh. Till then, let us just relish the pleasure of watching Paan Singh Tomar.

London Paris New York Movie Review

AVERAGE RATINGS OF 9 REVIEWS - 2.5/5
Star CastAli Zafar, Aditi Rao Hydari

London Paris New York Review By:
Taran Adarsh - Bollywood Hungama - Ratings 3.5/5
LONDON PARIS NEW YORK is akin to a lungful of fresh air amidst the hackneyed and passe rom-coms. It's a quirky, witty, coming-of-age movie that takes a conventional premise and twirls it into something delightfully unconventional, designed to charm and magnetize the urban youth. The movie speaks their lingo, mirrors their objectives and depicts the anguish and elation of falling in love. If you are young or young at heart, celebrate your weekend by leaping on to this feel-good earth hopping romance.
London Paris New York Review By:
Piyali Dasgupta - NDTV - Ratings 2.5/5

I’ll go with 2.5 stars for this film, for spinning yet another rom-com, which tries to be different, but doesn’t really succeed. I missed a story in the film.
London Paris New York Review By:
Dailybhaskar.com  - Ratings 2/5
3 Ups and 3 DownsFor all Ali Zafar and Aditi Rao Hydari’s fans, who can endure anything to watch them on silver screen for almost two hours can grab a ticket. Lack of story telling takes away the chance from the movie to enter the arena of popcorn films.
London Paris New York Review By:
OneIndia.in - Ratings 3.5/5

Overall, London Paris New York is a good entertainer and one can absolutely feel fresh air and life in this coming-of-age love story.
London Paris New York Review By:
Komal Nahta -Koimoi/ETC - Ratings 1/5

What’s Good: The performances.
What’s Bad: The very restricted appeal of the script; elements of the screenplay which are not convincing; the lack of hit music.
Verdict: London Paris New York will not work too well in India.
Loo break: Not really.
Watch or Not?: Watch it for a different movie experience.
London Paris New York Review By:
Martin D'Souza - Glamsham - Ratings 3/5

The subject is bold in its treatment. The way these two youngsters, who are away from their homes in a foreign land, conduct themselves is also laudable. Not every parent would want this but then every 20-year-old has a mind of his own.
For two new actors to hold you mesmerized is laudable. This movie should be a definite 'must see' on your 'to do list' this weekend.
London Paris New York Review By:
Preeti Arora - Rediff Ratings 2/5
The film undoubtedly belongs to cinematographer Sameer Arya , who has aimed for a certain look-and-feel which he maintains consistently through out. Hand held shots, the grainy documentary effect in so many outdoor sequences, unconventional camera angles isn't something we see in rom-coms. And for that alone give this film a chance.
London Paris New York Review By:
Aniruddha Guha - DNA  - Ratings 3/5

My favourite moment in LPNY comes when Nikhil and Lalitha are riding a carriage in New York, much older than the first time they met. There’s a visible comfort that belies the fact that it’s only their third meeting. And you really do wish the two get together eventually.
LPNY is a short and sweet romcom that will leave you with a smile. Go for it.
London Paris New York Review By:
Avijit Ghosh - Times Of India - Ratings:3/5
When you have a pop-icon for a music composer, the tracks are bound to be spot-on. Ali Zafar's music gives the film its freshness and adds to the lyricism of the love story. London Paris New York is a sweet story that deals with very real emotions. It is urbane, cool and thankfully, not dated. The simplicity of the dialogues makes it enjoyable. It deals with the trials and tribulations of the youth, and the complexities of finding real love. It probably won't move you to tears, but one thing is for sure -- after traveling across the globe, this one won't leave you jet-lagged.

Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya Movie Review

Written By Manish Garg on Friday, 24 February 2012 | 16:35

AVERAGE RATINGS OF 12 REVIEWS - 3/5
Star CastRiteish Deshmukh, Genelia D’Souza, Om Puri, Tinu Anand, Smita Jaykar

Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya Review By:
Taran Adarsh - Bollywood Hungama - Ratings 3/5
Follow three simple rules while attempting a rom-com...
One, the romance should be livewire. Ditto for the chemistry between the on-screen pair.
Two, the movie ought to make the viewer chuckle.
Three, it shouldn't fall prey to predictability.
If you get the above-mentioned characteristics right, chances are you may be smiling from ear to ear on the decisive Friday. Okay, does TERE NAAL LOVE HO GAYA, directed by Mandeep Kumar, live up to the set standards? Oh yes, you do exit the auditorium with a smile on your face.
On the whole, TERE NAAL LOVE HO GAYA is refreshing and succeeds in its endeavor of amusing and entertaining, more particularly in its second hour. In addition, the sparkling performances by Riteish and Genelia is the mainstay of the film.
Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya Review By:
OneIndia.in - Ratings 3/5
Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya, starring the newly wed couple Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D'souza is sure to bring smile on your face. Whether it is comedy, on-screen chemistry between the lead actors or the screenplay – Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya doesn't disappoint you at all.
Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya, directed by Mandeep Kumar is one of those 'feel good movies' that you would love to watch on a lazy weekend! The film is not too predictable either, which often is the case with romantic films.
Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya Review By:
Gaurav Malani - Times Of India  - Ratings:Good
The film primarily works thanks to the convincing chemistry and performances by the lead pair. Riteish Deshmukh is resourcefully restrained, perfectly poised and, needless to say, his comic timing is impeccable. At the same time he allows Genelia to take lead as the film largely revolves around her character. And Genelia does complete justice to her meaty role with a refreshing and dynamic act. Her cute looks and electrifying smile add to her appeal. From the character cast, Om Puri gets the best lines and induces frequent laughter. Chitrashi Rawat and Navin Prabhakar are wasted. Veena Malik's item number was avoidable.
With the feel-good factor working to its advantage, you might just end up saying Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya to this sweet-n-simple film.
Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya Review By:
Martin D'Souza - Glamsham - Ratings 2.5/5

TNLHG could have been a good Valentine's Day release. Also, coming soon after the Riteish Geneila marriage, it would have added as a curiosity factor. All the same, this is a fun film worth a watch.
Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya Review By:
Khalid Mohamed - Deccan Chronicle - Ratings 2.5/5

Of the two, Riteish Deshmukh appears to be stuck in a time warp; he hasn’t evolved as an artiste, making the same woebegone faces. Quite clearly Genelia D’Douza has a sparkling screen presence but has gone way over the top this time, much too loud as if she were addressing a political rally.
To see or not to see, then? Flip a coin. Heads you go, tails you don’t.
Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya Review By:
SAGAR  - News Beats - Ratings 3/5

Well, Rahul Sharma who is new for direction has managed to carve out ‘Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya’ in a better way and the highly publicized wedding of Ritesih Deshmukh and Genelia D’Souza worked in the film too with their charismatic chemistry. Just for fun and comedy-sake, the audience will surely enjoy the movie this season.
Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya Review By:
Komal Nahta -Koimoi/ETC - Ratings 2.5/5

What’s Good: Several comedy scenes; the hit music; the family drama; the emotional drama.
What’s Bad: Some clichéd comedy scenes; lack of justification for the love angle.
Verdict: The entertaining second half and the hit music save Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya and make it a plus fare for Tips and UTV. However, a few of the distributors who have acquired territorial distribution rights at fancy prices will not be able to make money.
Loo break: A couple in the first half.
Watch or Not?: Watch it for getting entertained.
Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya Review By:
Kanchana Devi - Truth Drive - Ratings 3.5/5
Together, Riteish and Genelia elevate the film a few notches above the ordinary.
As a whole, Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya is an entertaining film and will surely be liked by families.
Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya Review By:
Zeenews Ratings 3/5
Watch it for a light-hearted comedy. Watch it for Mr and Mrs Deshmukh. Let’s hope that they don’t wait for another seven years to do another film together.

Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya Review By:
Preeti Arora - Rediff - Ratings 2.5/5
Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya has too much saccharine, otherwise it retains a frothy, smooth texture says Preeti Arora.
Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya Review By:
Mansha Rastogi - Now Running - Ratings 3/5
Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya is a refreshing rom-com. Riteish and Genelia's acting remain the mainstay. Deserves a definite watch.
Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya Review By:
Shakti Salgaokar - DNA  - Ratings 3/5
It always helps when you walk in to a movie theatre to watch a morning show with almost no expectations. With barely anytime to sip my morning cuppa, I settled into the desi romantic-comedy that will see Riteish and Genelia for the first time after their recent wedding.
And boy, does the film surprise you!
Mini (Genelia) is a Punjabi kudi with a Canadian passport and hence a Green card holder (I dont know how Canadians get a green card but okay). This in addition to being the daughter of a rich man Bhatti (Anand) who employs a rickshaw driver Viren (Deshmukh), a poor buy who harbours a rich dream of owning Innova taxis one day.

Don't over analyse, don't think too much, just go watch and have fun.
