So far so good. But problems begin when the rest of the film becomes one long string of sequences where Sunny tries to say sorry and Simran retaliates with what's in a sorry! The film literally enters into static zone, once the romance falls into dire straits. How long can you keep watching a heartbroken guy apologise again and again to an unrelenting lady?
Essentially a non-happening film with mediocre acting.

First-time director Pawan Gill attempts to tell a love story that deals with the problems and struggles of a Gen X couple. Though it's easy to decipher what course the journey would take, you can't help but acknowledge the fact that Pawan at least makes a sincere attempt to tell a story that's breezy and pacy, with an interesting twist midway through the film. Well shot with several interesting moments, it's a film that the urban youth should identify with instantly. On the whole, JO HUM CHAHEIN is a decent watch that will require a strong word of mouth to leave a mark.

Debutant writer-director Pawan Gill updates this familiar story with some real touches – the film's heroine doesn't shy away from pre-marital sex, and when it comes to having a baby she makes a rather radical choice. What helps this mostly formulaic film forward is the spiffy camerawork and a music score that's catchy and fresh, especially the glossy Ishq hothon se number, shot in picturesque Ladakh.
'Jo Hum Chahein' endeavors to strike a fresh note, but alas, it's let down by the weight of its trite dialogues. I'm going with two out of five for 'Jo Hum Chahein' – it's a decent first effort, even though it smacks of sameness.

What’s Good: Songs are fairly nice.
What’s Bad: The routine story; the twisted screenplay that doesn’t involve the audience; the ordinary performances.
Verdict: Jo Hum Chahein is a boring and weak fare which will find the going very tough.
Loo break: Several.
Watch or Not?: Watch it if you like to watch love stories with newcomers.
