Nikhat Kazmi - Times Of India - Ratings 2/5
Brave effort by a group of youngsters to make a film which has been co-produced by Hrishitaa Bhatt (actor) and directed by Shubh, the hero of the film. There is a sincere effort by these newbies to script and create a comedy of errors centred round the issue of terrorism and the paranoia it has created all over. But seriously, can't say how apt it is to fool around with such a sensitive topic and create parodies out of terror czars like Osama. Here, you have Omama ( Zakir Hussain) and his terror network, Al-Baqaeda, hellbent on creating mayhem in India and outdoing the antics of Osama. Of course, Omama and his jihadis are bumbling buffoons. Now how funny is that?

Super Good Movies - Ratings 1.5/5
The basic idea of the story is decent. However, the execution fails big time. There is nothing that the director does to save this film. It is too loud, a khichadi of everything that has a little bit a predictable thrill, been there seen that comedy, a nagging girlfriend, spoof of Baba Ramdev, Al Queda, Osama, and more. There is no novelty in the film but it shows a little hope in parts.
The stupid fart and porn jokes become deterrent in the flow of the story. The main issue is that it takes too long to come to the point and by then the audience has lost interest.

SPMJ rests on a very conventional storyline, which lacks lustre in the terms of a poor screenplay. The effort of making a political satire falls flat, as the filmmaker goes overboard while tackling the subject. In fact, some portions of the story have an uncanny resemblance with SRK starrer Baadshah and Ali Zafar’s Tere Bin Laden. Dialogues prove to be the saving grace of the movie but, become monotonous after a point of time, as the plot thickens. Some good performances, dialogues and experimental editing are the strong points. Loopholes in screenplay, a thin storyline and confusing direction are the weaknesses.
On the whole, Shakal Pe Mat Ja doesn’t leave a mark at all and can be easily given a miss.

What’s Good: Nothing at all.
What’s Bad: Everything right from the story to the screenplay, the performances, the direction, the climax et al.
Verdict: Shakal Pe Mat Ja is a resounding flop.
Watch or Not?: Watch at your own risk.

Shakal Pe Mat Ja is one of those whacked-out satires that sounds far funnier on paper than on screen.First-time director Shubh shows a flair for comic moments and like I pointed out earlier, a few sequences do make you smile/laugh. But the writing is devoid of fun and far from watertight. On the whole, SHAKAL PE MAT JA is one of those whacked-out satires that sounds far funnier on paper than on screen.

Speaking of script, it has been credited to Shubh Mukherjee, who incidentally is also the director and the lead actor.
Of late, we have had films like LOOT and MILEY NAA MILEY HUM and BE-CAREFUL. SHAKAL PE MAT JA is one of those!

Another sore point of the film is the jarring background score. It's painfully loud to a point of challenging your tolerance. Music is decent but would've worked better had it been picturised well. Actors like Amna Shariff and Saurabh Shukla are wasted. Harshal, Chitrak and Dhruv add to the agony.
To sum it up, one shouldn't go by the looks of Shakal Pe Mat Ja and definitely pay heed to this review. The film is easily avoidable.
