Sagar Ballary became a name with his first film Bheja Fry five years ago. And he obviously believes every subsequent film must leave the audience with their 'Bheja Fried'. Mission accomplished.
This film is best avoided.

The concept, moderate performances by actors and cinematography are the strengths of the film. A clumsy screenplay, lacklustre music and dialogues leave one numb.
On the whole, Hum Tum Shabana can be easily given a miss.

Coming from the hands of director Sagar Ballary who gained cult status with films like ‘Bheja Fry’ and ‘Bheja Fry 2’ truly disappoints with this one as he delivers a dud in the name of ‘Hum Tum Shabana’. The film like other run of the mill comedy films is too filled with varied characters that do no good to the slapstick comedy flick with an added angle of love triangle.
The film is a failed attempt to revive the success of multi-starrer-comedy-meets-romance genre that has been utilized umpteenth times in Bollywood. Farhajaan Sheikh’s baseless story and screenplay are full of loop holes.

Martin D'Souza - Glamsham - Ratings 2/5
While the actors pull in their weight, the same cannot be said of the music, which is jarring to say the least. The film had lots of promise, especially after a rousing first half. It's one thing to get a few laughs, quite another to have the audience in continuous splits. Though the film is not long, a 20-minute cut would have made a world of difference. It's not a deadly comedy, but at least Bellary focuses on his prime motive - to make you laugh.

Satish Kaushik is a veteran when it comes to the comic genre. His comic timing was evident in a number of films in the past and together with Sanjay Mishra, he brings the house down on several occasions throughout the film. Sanjay Mishra is simply crazy. Pia Trivedi oozes glamour and does well in her debut film.
On the whole, HUM TUM SHABANA is a good idea gone wrong! It has a funny first half, but a disappointing second hour.

What’s Good: A few comic scenes; sequences of one-upmanship between Tusshar and Shreyas.
What’s Bad: The childish second half.
Verdict: Hum Tum Shabana will find few takers.
Loo break: Several in the post-interval portions.
Watch or Not?: Watch it if you want to laugh at any cost!

Just as a novice chef believes combining certain expensive ingredients will result in a flawless dish, Sagar Ballary works with a similar belief. There's a beauty contest, a funeral, kidnappings, diamond smuggling, and the obligatory songs shot in a '70s type of discotheque. And at the end of it, it can't even be called a half-baked dish. A mishmash is probably the most appropriate description. Sagar Ballary became a name with his first film Bheja Fry five years ago. And he obviously believes every subsequent film must leave the audience with their 'Bheja Fried'. Mission accomplished.
