What’s Good: The actors’ performances; the excellent dialogues; the twists and turns in the drama.
What’s Bad: The depiction of women in bad light.
Verdict: Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster is entertaining but it has its share of flaws. It may work in U.P., Bihar and other parts of North India but universal acceptance is ruled out.
Loo break: None really!
Watch or Not?: Watch Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster for Jimmy Shergill’s extraordinary performance and the wonderful dialogues.

DNA India - Ratings 4/5
Dhulia displayed immense promise in his debut film Haasil (although the film petered out in the last few reels), but followed it up with some mediocre attempts. With SBAG, he delivers and how.
Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster draws you in at the very start, keeps you hooked throughout, and ends on a high. In other words, you have very little reason to miss the film. Don't.

Saibal Chatterjee - NDTV - Ratings 3/5
The crumbling sepia-toned interiors and colour tones scream out a message of live and let live. But it's too late, Dhulia's characters are felled by their own greed and lust.
Guru Dutt would have probably choked at this bad land bawdy burlesque of Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam. Lekin man-na padega, boss. Tigmanshu Dhulia's homage to Dutt is saucy if somewhat uneven in tone and jagged at the edges.

Super Good Movies - Ratings 3.5/5
Very few films give you a feeling three hours are less and you want to watch more of it. ‘Sahab Biwi Aur Gangster’ is one of those. The film is an edge of the seat entertainer. You enjoy every moment, every scene and every dialogue in the film. The team has done a fantastic job as far as casting is concerned. The dialogue delivery and scenes look so natural that you don’t feel like you are watching a film. With the backdrop of a small town, Dhulia takes you on a journey to the lives of the characters involved.

Taran Adarsh - Bollywood Hungama - Ratings 3.5/5
SAHEB BIWI AUR GANGSTER is a well-made film that works for its powerful plot, engaging script, commanding dialogue and super performances. Tigmanshu Dhulia has had the guts to do something unusual within commercial parameters and the effort needs to be lauded.
