FORCE Review By -
Nikhat Kazmi - Times Of India - Ratings 3.5/5
Also, the fact that Force showcases some superb craftsmanship, both in its action and emotional sequences and has a second half that literally hurtles at a frenetic pace, ensures that you never lose interest in the onscreen proceedings. Things to enjoy: oddballs John and Genelia trying to find a common meeting point, with Genelia openly declaring she wants to make love to the hunky cop, the cop quartet that tirelessly wages a war against the drug cartel, the fight sequences shot with art and finesse by Ayanankar Bose, the high emotional quotient in an out and out action film....And yes, how can we forget this: John Abraham's pure beefcake appeal.

Super Good Movies - Ratings 3/5
‘Force’ is a remake of the blockbuster Tamil film ‘Khakha Khakha’ that starred Suriya. Yes the story has been tweaked a little but the basic plot is the same. Nishkant Kamat handles it well and gives you a clean entertainer that is not over-the-top in any case. It’s real and believable unlike other Hindi action films where the lead actor is seen bashing 20 goons on his own.
FORCE Review By -
Daily Bhaskar - Ratings 3.5/5
A powerful storyline, crisp screenplay, hard-hitting dialogues and impressive performance make Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster a delightful watch. Slightly dragged second half and editing are weak points, but can be ignored.

Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster is surely a milestone in Tigmanshu Dhulia's career, that he will cherish both as a director and producer. So will the cine-goers, who won’t be disappointed. This one's highly recommended!
FORCE Review By -
Taran Adarsh - Bollywood Hungama - Ratings 4/5
FORCE is an engrossing story of vendetta and the execution of the material makes it stand out in the crowd. The film has the requisite amount of zing and force, so essential for action movies that talk of heroism. If you are looking for a sensible masala film with substance, FORCE should most definitely figure on your agenda. Recommended!

Komal Nahta - Koimoi - Ratings 2.5/5
What’s Good: The action and stunts; the songs; the acting.
What’s Bad: The seemingly uni-dimensional nature of the film; absence of emotions and comedy; the sidelining of the romantic track.
Verdict: Force has taken a good start. Its action will see it sail through comfortably.
Loo break: Not really.
Watch or Not?: Watch it for the deadly stunts.

Now Running - Ratings 3.5/5
Music and background score are also in sync with the film with two songs Chu Chu Chu and I love to love you standing out from the lot!

Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster is meant for smart audience that doesn't enter the cinema hall expected crass masala flick in the name of entertainment.

Komal Nahta - Koimoi - Ratings 2/5
What’s Good: The actors’ performances; the excellent dialogues; the twists and turns in the drama.
What’s Bad: The depiction of women in bad light.
Verdict: Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster is entertaining but it has its share of flaws. It may work in U.P., Bihar and other parts of North India but universal acceptance is ruled out.
Loo break: None really!
Watch or Not?: Watch Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster for Jimmy Shergill’s extraordinary performance and the wonderful dialogues.

Dhulia displayed immense promise in his debut film Haasil (although the film petered out in the last few reels), but followed it up with some mediocre attempts. With SBAG, he delivers and how.

Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster draws you in at the very start, keeps you hooked throughout, and ends on a high. In other words, you have very little reason to miss the film. Don't.
SAHEB BIWI AUR GANGSTER Review By -
Saibal Chatterjee - NDTV - Ratings 3/5
The crumbling sepia-toned interiors and colour tones scream out a message of live and let live. But it's too late, Dhulia's characters are felled by their own greed and lust.

Guru Dutt would have probably choked at this bad land bawdy burlesque of Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam. Lekin man-na padega, boss. Tigmanshu Dhulia's homage to Dutt is saucy if somewhat uneven in tone and jagged at the edges.

Super Good Movies - Ratings 3.5/5
Very few films give you a feeling three hours are less and you want to watch more of it. ‘Sahab Biwi Aur Gangster’ is one of those. The film is an edge of the seat entertainer. You enjoy every moment, every scene and every dialogue in the film. The team has done a fantastic job as far as casting is concerned. The dialogue delivery and scenes look so natural that you don’t feel like you are watching a film. With the backdrop of a small town, Dhulia takes you on a journey to the lives of the characters involved.
SAHEB BIWI AUR GANGSTER Review By  -

SAHEB BIWI AUR GANGSTER is a well-made film that works for its powerful plot, engaging script, commanding dialogue and super performances. Tigmanshu Dhulia has had the guts to do something unusual within commercial parameters and the effort needs to be lauded.

Hum Tum Shabana Review

AVERAGE RATINGS OF 6 REVIEWS - 1.25/5

HUM TUM SHABANA Review By  -
Daily Bhaskar - Ratings 1.5/5
The concept, moderate performances by actors and cinematography are the strengths of the film. A clumsy screenplay, lacklustre music and dialogues leave one numb.
On the whole, Hum Tum Shabana can be easily given a miss.
HUM TUM SHABANA Review By -
Super Good Movies - Ratings 1/5
Coming from the hands of director Sagar Ballary who gained cult status with films like ‘Bheja Fry’ and ‘Bheja Fry 2’ truly disappoints with this one as he delivers a dud in the name of ‘Hum Tum Shabana’. The film like other run of the mill comedy films is too filled with varied characters that do no good to the slapstick comedy flick with an added angle of love triangle.
The film is a failed attempt to revive the success of multi-starrer-comedy-meets-romance genre that has been utilized umpteenth times in Bollywood. Farhajaan Sheikh’s baseless story and screenplay are full of loop holes.
HUM TUM SHABANA Review By  -
Martin D'Souza - Glamsham - Ratings 2/5
While the actors pull in their weight, the same cannot be said of the music, which is jarring to say the least. The film had lots of promise, especially after a rousing first half. It's one thing to get a few laughs, quite another to have the audience in continuous splits. Though the film is not long, a 20-minute cut would have made a world of difference. It's not a deadly comedy, but at least Bellary focuses on his prime motive - to make you laugh.
HUM TUM SHABANA Review By  -
Taran Adarsh - Bollywood Hungama - Ratings 1.5/5
Satish Kaushik is a veteran when it comes to the comic genre. His comic timing was evident in a number of films in the past and together with Sanjay Mishra, he brings the house down on several occasions throughout the film. Sanjay Mishra is simply crazy. Pia Trivedi oozes glamour and does well in her debut film.
On the whole, HUM TUM SHABANA is a good idea gone wrong! It has a funny first half, but a disappointing second hour.
HUM TUM SHABANA Review By  -
Komal Nahta - Koimoi - Ratings 1/5
What’s Good: A few comic scenes; sequences of one-upmanship between Tusshar and Shreyas.
What’s Bad: The childish second half.
Verdict: Hum Tum Shabana will find few takers.
Loo break: Several in the post-interval portions.
Watch or Not?: Watch it if you want to laugh at any cost!
HUM TUM SHABANA Review By -
Raja Sen - Rediff - Ratings 0.5/5
Just as a novice chef believes combining certain expensive ingredients will result in a flawless dish, Sagar Ballary works with a similar belief. There's a beauty contest, a funeral, kidnappings, diamond smuggling, and the obligatory songs shot in a '70s type of discotheque. And at the end of it, it can't even be called a half-baked dish. A mishmash is probably the most appropriate description.
Sagar Ballary became a name with his first film Bheja Fry five years ago. And he obviously believes every subsequent film must leave the audience with their 'Bheja Fried'. Mission accomplished.
This film is best avoided.

TERE MERE PHERE Review By  -
Martin D'Souza - Glamsham - Ratings 0.5/5
Taking the director's baton for the first time, Deepa falls flat. Incidentally, she's also credited with the writing (with Jagrat) and Screenplay and dialogues. Jagrat and Sasha, to be fair, show some promise as actors in a few scenes. But the only one to shine is the boy who plays the younger brother of Rahul.

TERE MERE PHERE is a merry-go-round, which leaves you a bit wobbly in the head.
TERE MERE PHERE Review By -
Saibal Chatterjee - NDTV - Ratings 1.5/5
Vinay Patak is wasted as he hardly has anything to do in the film.

On the other hand, the verdant Himalayan terrain is beautifully captured by cinematographer Christo Bakalov. The film has been shot in beautiful and unusual parts of Himachal, especially in the newly opened Kinnaur Valley. The climax of the film has been shot at Hatu Peak and Jhamunda (near Tethys Resort, Narkanda).

The music by Shivangi R. Kashyap is nothing to write home about.

The first half of the film is just tolerable. The second half has its moments of extreme comedy. The end is equally disappointing leaving the viewers wondering as to why you wanted to witness this meaningless marriage.
TERE MERE PHERE Review By -
Super Good Movies - Ratings 1.5/5
The film is definitely not fit in the age of commercial entertainers that are made by today’s film makers. Even a few films made in the 90s were better than this one. Yes it does has its moment of fun in terms of a few dialogues that manage to create giggles. But rest it is plain irritating because of the lead couple keeps whining as if they have no other job. The first half is totally over the top whereas the second half shows some improvement only to disappoint at the end.
TERE MERE PHERE Review By -
Daily Bhaskar - Ratings 1/5
Performances, beautiful locales and cinematography are the strong points. Sadly, a thin storyline, overtly dragged screenplay and boring dialogues make it a film, which can’t be recommended on any condition.
TERE MERE PHERE Review By:
Taran Adarsh - Bollywood Hungama - Ratings 2/5
Vinay Pathak is an absolute natural. He proves he's a scene-stealer yet again. Jagrat is wonderful, not showing signs that this is his debut film. Sasha compliments Jagrat at places, but needs to be natural at times. Riya Sen looks too glamorous for the part. Even her western diction makes her unfit for this role. Sushmita Mukherjee does well. Darshan Jariwala gets no scope. Jagrat's kid-brother is funny.
On the whole, TERE MERE PHERE manages to raise a few laughs, but that's not enough. One expected more!

What’s Good: The comedy; the performances.
What’s Bad: The over-stretched screenplay.
Verdict: Tere Mere Phere is a good attempt but lack of a decent initial will tell on its final tally at the box-office.
Loo break: A couple in the second half.
Watch or Not?: Watch it for a good laugh.

Mausam Review

MAUSAM Review By:
IANS - Ratings 4/5
There is an absolutely devastating moment of pure drama in this eagerly-awaited far-from-disappointing romance where Shahid Kapoor, playing one of the most deliciously challenging roles of his career, espies from a train the lost love of his life, Sonam Kapoor, standing forlorn in the snow with luggage, like Meryl Streep in ‘The French Lieutenant’s Woman’ or Manisha Koirala in ‘Dil Se’, waiting for god knows what! The next train? Love? Death? Or the next life? It’s a moment that defines ‘Mausam’, a film that has some serious flaws, but finally holds together as a work of renaissance art, more remarkable, in parts outstanding, for what it attempts rather than what it finally achieves. But you have to hand it to Pankaj Kapoor. In his directorial debut, he tells an old-fashioned story of love, separation and reunion with flourishes and flashes of great cinema igniting what would in lesser hands, appear to be a trite tale of love gone frightfully cliched. And yes, Pritam’s music is apt. But the best tunes ‘Abhi na jao chod kar’ and ‘Ajeeb dastaan hain yeh’, are not his.

Mausam begins on a beautiful note. Loads of atmospherics, mood, sentiment and stunning visuals of a sleepy rural backdrop, captured in arresting mode by cinematographer Binod Pradhan make you sit back determined for an artistic tryst with cinema. Sonam's shy femininity as the anguished Kashmir migrant, trapped in alien terrain and Shahid Kapoor's boyish buoyancy add a spark to the proceedings as does their old-fashioned style of romance.

Every scene is beautifully shot, the romance is meant to grow on you with its artful glances and coy exchanges. But instead of a slow burn, it's just plain exhaustion. In the age of instant email and easily transported cellphones, the lovers leave no forwarding addresses or contact numbers. They rely instead on the goodness of neighbours and the willingness of relatives. This is Pankaj Kapur's first film as director and clearly he's aiming for an old fashioned epic. He pours his heart and mind into it, tying it up in a neat little bow into a message for insaniyat in the time of brutality, but I wish his lovers had been more ardent. And more suited to each other. He's a peacock and she's a swan and the twain shall never mate.
MAUSAM Review By:
Saibal Chatterjee - NDTV - Ratings 3/5
Mausam isn’t obviously your average boy meets girl story. Boy indeed meets girl in this romantic tale, but they do not walk down the path that screen lovers usually take in Bollywood films. What Mausam articulates is a simple truth: in the uneasy times that we live in, is pure, unadulterated love possible? Can our hearts and minds rise above the destructive forces that surround us?The nearly three-hour-long Mausam takes eons to arrive at the conclusion of that thematic formulation, but the heartfelt humanist statement that it makes is shot through with honesty and simplicity. To conclude, Mausam could quite easily have ended up being a stodgy, strenuous and self-conscious drama. Writer-director Kapur, the accomplished actor that he is, orchestrates the emotional ups and downs of his tale with a commendable degree of moderation for the most part. Mausam is certainly worth a viewing.

Shahid and Sonam are both committed to their roles but their dialogues and lack of chemistry can easily make you hate this love story. The music is hummable and the cinematography is divine. But in all, they don't add up to tell a story that can keep your eyes peeled to the screen.
This film offers a one-stop disaster tour, listing most major global and local setbacks. In hindsight, if these tragedies didn't occur, our duo would never be separated. But then again, they wouldn't have met either.
MAUSAM Review By:
Taran Adarsh - Bollywood Hungama - Ratings 2/5
It must have been a challenge of sorts for Shahid and Sonam to get the roles right. For, both sport not one, but varied looks in the film. Shahid gives his all to this role, submitting himself to his director-father to mould him the way he chooses to. It won't be erroneous to state that Shahid surpasses all his previous performances, including the one in KAMINEY, with this film. The film also marks the coming of age of this actor. For Sonam, MAUSAM will prove to be a turning point in her career. Astonishing -- that would be the right word to describe her work this time around. The confidence with which she handles the distinct characterization speaks volumes. Supriya Pathak Kapur is first-rate. Anupam Kher is wasted. Manoj Pahwa is wonderful, as always. The actors essaying the role of Sonam's father and sister are natural. Vaibhav Talwar gets no scope. Aditi Sharma excels in a brief role. On the whole, MAUSAM is a colossal disappointment!

Speedy Singhs (Breakaway) Review By:
Taran Adarsh - Bollywood Hungama - Ratings 1.5/5
Cricket, Hockey, Football, Boxing... now Ice Hockey! Sport-centric films are gradually finding their way on the Hindi screen. BREAKAWAY aka SPEEDY SINGHS brings several knows names from U.S., Canada and India in this cross-cultural family drama with Ice Hockey as the backdrop.
Like BEND IT LIKE BECKHAM much earlier and PATIALA HOUSE more recently, SPEEDY SINGHS also looks at the generation gap between the older generation [Anupam Kher, in this case], who hold tightly to traditional values and the younger generation [Vinay Virmani], who have already adapted themselves to the adopted country [Canada]. SPEEDY SINGHS has a plot you can connect with instantly, but the film suffers on varied counts. Akshay Kumar makes a cameo in the film -- in a sequence first and in the song during the end credits.
On the whole, SPEEDY SINGHS fails to deliver.
Speedy Singhs (Breakaway) Review By:
Saibal Chatterjee - NDTV - Ratings 2.5/5
The film comes perilously close to skidding off the edge time and again. If it doesn’t, it isn’t for any great merit in the script. It is just that the film’s ambitions are so limited that even when it hits the wall and collapses, it manages to pull itself up and return to the safety of its constricted sphere of operation. Speedy Singhs isn’t interested in going anywhere in particular.
If you happen to be in the mood for charity, you could actually look at this entire concoction quite differently. Speedy Singhs derives its plot conventions from a multiplicity of genres. It’s a sports flick, a family drama, a Hollywood rom-com and a fluffy, feel-good Bollywood ride all rolled in one. Take your pick.
Lead actor Vinay Virmani, likeable on the screen, turns in a competent performance, as do Kher and Lowe. American actress Camilla Belle, Canadian stand-up comedian Russell Peters and Indian-American actress Noureen DeWulf do their best within the limitations of the screenplay. But as with much else in Speedy Singhs, they end up being caricatures.

Sports films have always subscribed to a recipe that guarantees success. A little more or less and you can be assured of indigestion. If you're going to watch this film, you know you're headed for a 'Happy Singh ever after' and that is exactly what you will get.
Speedy Singhs (Breakaway) Review By:
Super Good Movies -
Ratings 2.5/5
Speedy Singhs is a refreshing watch with just the right amount of masala. There’s romance, humour, emotions just in the right mix. People will relate to it in one way or the other and then they have added Russel Peters which is a big plus.
Verdict: Worth a watch for its humour.
Speedy Singhs (Breakaway) Review By:
Nikhat Kazmi - Times Of India -
Ratings 3/5
Speedy Singhs is a smart little surprise package. It's a cheerful film that makes you smile with its subtle humour, its repartee-filled screenplay, its deftness at handling the umpteen relationships and its finely-nuanced performances. A little more spice and edge to the delineation of the game itself would have made the film an action-packed adventure too. Nevertheless, Speedy Singhs, with a guest appearance by Akshay Kumar (as himself), is an entertaining watch.

Rivaaz Review

AVERAGE RATINGS OF 5 REVIEWS - 0.7/5

RIVAAZ Review By:
Taran Adarsh - Bollywood Hungama - Ratings 1/5
RIVAAZ tells the story of families indulging in prostitution. One such family consists of the father [Rajendra Gupta], mother [Deepti Naval] and daughter Bela [Ritisha Vijayvargiya]. Ritisha dares to fall in love with Rahul [Manoj Biddvai] and in the process, faces the wrath of not just her father, but also the entire village that practices/encourages prostitution.Despite starring fine actors, the film doesn't boast of bravura performances. The accomplished actors are, very frankly, wasted. Deepti Naval and Vijay Raaz specifically deserved a better deal. As for the young brigade, Manoj Biddvai and Ritisha Vijayvargiya, they fail to impress. Meghna Naidu [minus makeup] and Saadhika Randhawa are dull.
On the whole, RIVAAZ is a poor fare.
RIVAAZ Review By:
Komal Nahta - Koimoi/ETC - Ratings 0.5/5
What’s Good: Hardly anything.
What’s Bad: The poorly written screenplay; the boring drama; the pathetic direction; the average performances; and the forgettable music.
Verdict: Rivaaz is a very poor fare. Flop.
RIVAAZ Review By:
Ankur Pathak - Rediff - Ratings 0/5
In Rivaaz, two shoddily dressed 'youngsters' bump their jeep into a crowd of brightly dressed village women, but nobody's really hurt. One of the guys then starts clicking pictures randomly, looking amused, as if he has just spotted a rare species. This is the director establishing that the guys are shehri or city-bred.
Oh, c'mon they didn't want to end the film crediting the media. So it drags on till the village is burned down. A word to the director Ashok Kumar Nanda. Sir, this is not a film. At least not a serious one. Not a satire either. Not even a stage-show. I'm not sure what it really is. Prostitution, even when it's the subject of a joke, doesn't make me laugh. And here, I guffawed.
Final Word: Rivaaz is tragically funny.
RIVAAZ Review By:

Plus Points: Story, Good Names
Minus Points: Performances, Direction, Technicalities
Analysis: Couple of weeks back, ‘Khap’ released that too was based on age-old Indian traditions. These films have good subjects to play with but totally disappoint with poor scripting, direction and performances.
Final Word: Not worth your penny spent.

Even some of the renowned actors like Vijay Raaz, Alok Nath, Yashpal Sharma, Reema Lagoo, Deepti Naval, and Sayaji Shinde are utterly wasted in this tawdry story. The long lost Meghna Naidu is as bad as before while newcomer main leads Manoj Biddvai and Ritisha Vijayvargya do nothing but ham throughout the film.To sum it up, Rivaaz could make for a hard-hitting watch had it been for good execution. It's unbearable in its current state. Best avoided.

Jaana Pehchana Review

AVERAGE RATINGS OF 5 REVIEWS - 2/5

JAANA PEHCHANA Review By:
Sukanya Verma - Rediff - Ratings 2.5/5
It is these good-as-gold characters with outdated values in their simplistic uncomplicated world which make the film unbelievable.
But those eternal optimists -- who are out there waiting for their second chance, believing their knight in shining armor is just around the corner -- will definitely appreciate Jaana Pehchana. And the Barjatyas will continue to make similar films no matter how passé the plots appear to us. Source

JAANA PEHCHANA Review By:
Times Of India
The film is replete with regular Rajshri brand elements like conflict-free screenplay, convenient writing and slow pacing. Also there are customary characters like the doting Ramu kaka and a gajar-ka-halwa making neighbour. And god forbid, even Lily's spirit is revoked in the climax.
Comparisons with the prequel are inevitable and both Ranjeeta and Sachin are plain average in retrospect. Also one can't really say it's a pleasant surprise to see yesteryear actors like the jaded Junior Mehmood and the bespectacled Birbal in itsy-bitsy parts.

JAANA PEHCHANA Review By:
Martin D'Souza - Glamsham - Ratings 2/5
Sachin and Ranjeeta are back on screen together again. Their performance in ANKHIYON KE JHAROKHON SE, Rajshri production's 1978 hit, has prompted JAANA PEHCHANA. The production house may not say it, but this is a sequel to that movie. It probably has to be a sequel that has been pondered for the longest possible time ever-33 years!Like I mentioned earlier, strictly for lovers of the 1978 hit.
JAANA PEHCHANA Review By:
Super Good Movies - Ratings 2/5
Plus Points: Sachin, Ranjeeta, Music
Minus Points: Technicalities, Boring, No Novelty
Analysis: Sachin is the screenplay, story writer, lead actor and director of the film. He puts up a mediocre storyline of falling in love with the lookalike of your lost love that seemed to be the most obvious for a sequel. First of all coming out with a sequel after 33 years is way too long and that too with a mediocre storyline does not make much sense. While narrating the flashback a lot of scenes and songs from the original are repeated, so for those who haven’t seen the original, the story seems complete.
Final Word:Only watch if you loved the prequel.

Mere Brother Ki Dulhan Review

AVERAGE RATINGS OF 13 REVIEWS - 2.4/5

MERE BROTHER KI DULHAN Review By:
Taran Adarsh - Bollywood Hungama - Ratings 4/5
Yash Raj too has had their share of shaadis and baaraats on celluloid. Be it DILWALE DULHANIA LE JAYENGE or BAND BAAJA BAARAAT, the production house has successfully come up with stories that had the viewer thirsting for more. MERE BROTHER KI DULHAN more than lives up to the legacy. Sure, it has the trademark flamboyancy and family drama associated with Yash Raj, but it's totally different from what we've watched thus far. The performances are easy on the eyes. The unlikely chemistry between Katrina and Imran coupled with Ali Zafar's impeccable comic timing keeps you glued to the screen. Imran, frankly, seems the apt choice for this role and he more than lives up to it. Katrina is only getting better and more endearing with every release. Ali Zafar is a supremely talented actor and this film proves it yet again. On the whole, MERE BROTHER KI DULHAN is a delectably wholesome, heartening, feel-good entertainer. Not just a comedy, but also a tender, bittersweet saga, this rom-com is sure to melt your heart, then restore it anew all over again. Yet another winner from Yash Raj!

MERE BROTHER KI DULHAN Review By:
Komal Nahta - Koimoi/ETC - Ratings 3/5
What’s Good: The entertaining screenplay; the emotional undercurrent of the drama; Katrina Kaif’s fantastic performance; the hit music and the eye-pleasing song picturisations.
What’s Bad: The screenplay dips at a few places; a few comic scenes seem forced.
Verdict: Mere Brother Ki Dulhan has reasonable entertainment value, very good music, exciting song picturisations which will all result in a good run at the box-office

MERE BROTHER KI DULHAN Review By:
Rajeev Masand - CNN IBN - Ratings 2/5
Directed by first-timer Ali Abbas Zafar, 'Mere Brother Ki Dulhan' starts off breezily, with enough comic moments to keep you engaged. There's an amusing scene in which Dimple subjects Luv to a Koffee With Karan-style rapidfire interview on Skype, and another sequence in which she distracts Kush while riding pillion on his scooter. But it's when the film introduces its conflict at intermission point that everything begins to go downhill.

MERE BROTHER KI DULHAN Review By:
Shubhra Gupta - Indian Express - Ratings 2/5
'Mere Brother Ki Dulhan' is a strictly-by-the-template rom com. Not any old rom com, but a Yashraj one. Cue clean-cut hero. Smashing heroine. Good-looking second lead who nearly steals the show. The second half is a plodding, utterly predictable we-know-where-we-have-to-get-to but don’t-quite-know-how-to-get-there affair. This is a Yashraj rom com where funny-smart lines are a substitute for good old passion. Don’t go looking for any. Don’t go looking for any subtle notes, either. There aren’t any.

MERE BROTHER KI DULHAN Review By:
Sukanya Verma - Rediff - Ratings 2.5/5
Mere Brother Ki Dulhan tries hard to do a Hrishikesh Mukherjee in a Yash Raj set up but is held back by a middling script that banks excessively on charisma, camaraderie and a common malady among present-day aspiring filmmakers -- fanboyism. And while the references from RD's retro chartbusters to Dabangg's clout are all very nice, it's not novel any more.Mere Brother Ki Dulhan is a pretty ordinary effort. It's the kind of movie where everyone looks catalogue cool and beams with enthusiasm to make the going-ons appear droll and exciting. And though one's a sourpuss for not buying it, I'll take the risk of being one.

MERE BROTHER KI DULHAN Review By:
Aniruddha Guha - DNA India - Ratings 1/5
Every year, YRF launches a director or two, who then make the same films other directors were already making for the banner. There’s not a shred of originality, not even an attempt to rise over the mindlessness; just a set pattern that is replicated to the T, even though it’s met with little success time and again. The brief must have been clear: ‘Don’t use your brains, just do what we’ve been doing for years now. It worked the last time; it’ll probably work again. If not, we’ll try again the next time.

It's an interesting debut by director Ali Abbas Zafar, yet ironically something seems to hold him back from creating a full blown comedy. The first half of the film, with the umpteen wedding preparations, gets too long drawn and the fun and games that Katrina tries to infuse in the proceedings seem a bit forced. All in all, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan holds out a promise for a pleasant weekend viewing.

MERE BROTHER KI DULHAN oscillates between mundane to sad after showing an initial spark of brilliance. So much time wasted in the 'I love you' nonsense that in the last scene, you feel sorry for the dads of the boy and girl. Continuous references to old YRF films too don't add value. In fact, it is like making mockery out of an already juvenile scene. There's not much on offer in this film. Whatever is there is finished off in the first half hour. After that it drags. The twist in the tale, too, is far-fetched, not becoming of an intelligent love story. Sad, because it had talent in the form of Imran Khan and Katrina Kaif. And even though Katrina is having the time of a life in a care-free role, it is Ali Zafar, who plays Imran Khan's older brother, who steals the lightning and thunder. Ali is an assertive actor who has a confident body language. He speaks even before he utters a word - with his actions. He is the only bright spark in this film. Dynamite stuff.

On paper, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan's dimple must have sounded like a terrific story. A 27-year-old who has lived life as a wild child, growing up in London to a diplomat father, decides to settle down to an arranged marriage. But Katrina Kaif plays her as a curiously blank piece of paper. It's as difficult to imagine her as a rocker chick who carries beer in her thaila and smokes a bidi. She tries hard, but if the movie stays even marginally afloat it is because of Imran Khan. He's boyish, charming as the sensible younger brother of the very self aware and very filmi Ali Zafar.Ali Abbas Zafar gets a lot right. A large part of the film is a spoof--from Dabangg to My Name Is Khan. Some of it also an ode--from Padosan to Mughal e Azam. Some of it works, a lot of it doesn't.

Plus Points: Ali Zafar, Music, Cinematography
Minus Points: Script
Analysis: The film could have been made much better for entertainment value. Yes it does entertain but in parts. Humor added to it is not very novel but manages to get a smile on your faces. But a film with high expectations that it was fails to impress.
Final Word:It’s a once watch.

The title of the film and the promo give out the entire story leaving very little for you to guess and whatever little ambiguity that was left also got cleared by the repeated reinforcement of the story by the lead cast Imran Khan, Katrina Kaif and Ali Zafar who extensively spoke about the film in its publicity campaign. But for the ones who still couldn't get it right here's a gist of the one line plot.Imran Khan's luck on rom-coms seems to be shining for a while. Katrina Kaif is one of the leading ladies of the industry. Ali Zafar has track of the much acclaimed Tere Bin Laden as his last film. So there are definitely reasons enough in this film other than its story or script to watch it. If the same goes for you, take your pick!

Surely a treat for Katrina’s fans, as it will be an experience to witness her talent. Also, for those Bollywood lovers, who enjoy entertainment sans a need to find a story, MBKD will be a perfect watch. A second half, which is a bit too dragged acts as an hindrance and slows down the flick to some extent. Imran-Katrina’s first time on-screen jodi can also be a reason to spend on the ticket. Go grab one, as this one is purely a paisa vasool.

‘Mere Brother Ki Dulhan’ starts promisingly - with a nod to that most classical of classic Bollywood comedies ‘Padosan’.We did feel that the second half of the film was weaker than the first, and not entirely confident of its tone. But some scenes and situations do stand out in ‘Mere Brother Ki Dulhan’ overall, as much for their honesty as their humour. Watch Dimple’s response after Kush wonders why someone as free-spirited as her is opting for an arranged marriage; the ‘Koffee With Karan’ inspired rapid-fire Q&A round with a tongue-in-cheek salute to Salman Khan; Luv’s jealousy on seeing his ex with a new man; and how you can never really hide anything from your best friends.Final verdict: ‘Mere Brother Ki Dulhan’ is fairly entertaining, and its three leads are engaging through most of it. Just don’t go expecting too much from the movie and you’ll enjoy it while it lasts.
