PAAN SINGH TOMAR shatters the standard rules of this genre. Besides, the film makes you cognizant that serious cinema can be uniformly delightful, like any other enthralling entertainer. If this variety of cinema allures you then chances are that you will take pleasure in watching PAAN SINGH TOMAR. Recommended!

3 Ups and 3 DownsA performance par excellence by Irrfan Khan, stupendous direction, impressive dialogues, and a powerful screenplay makes Paan Singh Tomar a flawless venture. Sluggish editing, however leaves the film slightly lengthy which though can easily be ignored.
On the whole, Paan Singh Tomar breaks rules and cries out loud that meaningful cinema can be equally entertaining like any rib-tickling masala film. Highly recommended!

Paan Singh Tomar would not have worked out if not for the outstanding performance of Irrfan Khan. It is obvious that Irrfan has trained himself to justify the role that he did. Irrfan is 'perfect' in every way and not once does he falter in his portrayal of the character.
Mahie Gill is brilliant and has given a wonderful performance, and so has Vipin Sharma and Rajendra Gupta. All other actors have delivered a good performance.
Overall, Paan Singh Tomar is a must watch movie!

What’s Good: The first half; the performances.
What’s Bad: The second half which is a routine revenge drama; the difficulty which the lay viewer will face while trying to understand the Bundelkhandi dialect in which the dialogues are spoken.
Verdict: Paan Singh Tomar does not make too much of a mark, thanks to the dull second half.
Loo break: A couple after interval.
Watch or Not?: Watch it for Irrfan Khan’s performance and also for the other actors.

Paan Singh Tomar celebrates sports. It also highlights the apparent jungle we all are living in. Just imagine what his life would have been had his complaint been registered in the police station and was he given the respect due to him.
Dacoits are made, not born.

Gangsters, con artists and stock market scammers have always been glamourised in films to be acceptable and commendable. But Paan Singh begs to differ and his raw exuberance is what makes him endearing and a joy to watch. And the best part of the film is, despite the premise, it doesn’t force any rapes or unwarranted abusives to beef up the plot. And that ensures Irrfan’s interpretation of the homely homicidal doesn’t become a Paan Singh too much.

Dhulia has one more agenda in making PST. He reminds us -- as the statement at the end of the film makes it amply clear -- that India has a sad track record when it comes to the treatment of its former athletes and who were real national heroes.
That statement carries a lot of significance in current times when some sports in India, especially cricket, have become a big business. Millions of dollars are spent buying, promoting Indian Premier League  players and teams. Players like Sachin Tendulkar , an Indian hero alright, are certainly well taken care of through all his endorsement deals. But not too long ago, and perhaps even now, many of India's well-known athletes lived in abject poverty, forgotten by the nation, once their sports careers were over.
PST reminds us never to forget that shame of India.

Gritty and power packed Paan Singh Tomar is a tribute to the unsung heroes of sports in India. Dhulia’s direction and Irrfan’s integrity will make Paan Singh Tomar among the best movies of recent times.

It is perhaps a sign of Bollywood maturing that another biopic on a famous athlete is in the making: Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, on sprinter Milkha Singh. Till then, let us just relish the pleasure of watching Paan Singh Tomar.

An absolutely brilliant movie. It desereved the Oscar nomination compared to 'Barfi!'. Chances of bringing home the shining Golden Knight would have been brighter with Pan Singh Tomar. And Irrfan Khan was just out-of-the-world! Truly phenomenal!
